More about our Weoley Castle Office

Solicitors in Weoley Castle

Weoley Castle is named after the Weoley Castle itself, a 750-year-old fortified manor house that was built by the Lords of Dudley as a hunting lodge. Today, ruins of the castle in a picturesque setting are all that remain. However, once a magnificent castle stood within a thousand acres of deer park, stretching nearly as far as central Birmingham.

The castle we see today dates from the 1200s, but a castle existed on the site long before that. In the 1960s excavations revealed the remains of an ancient wooden structure buried underneath. In the late 15th century, the medieval stone castle began to fall into disrepair. Later, stones were taken away to build the Dudley no.2 canal and nearby farm buildings. The ruins of Weoley Castle are classed as an Ancient Monument of national importance and attract thousands of visitors a year.

During the 1930s, the district of Weoley Castle became a hotspot for the development and building of council housing. Due to its residential roots, Weoley Castle today has a wealth of amenities, with Weoley Castle Square located at the heart. The square features a pleasant oval-shaped green with trimmed grass and benches. Around the green is a shopping area, a market selling local produce and a healthcare centre.

Weoley Castle is an area brimming with community spirit and history. There is an array of activities on offer including an ice-skating rink, horse riding, and crazy golf. Weoley Castle’s proximity to Birmingham means residents are within easy reach of Symphony Hall, Birmingham Museum, the National Sealife Centre, Cadbury World and all the other attractions of the UK’s second largest city.

Our law firm in Weoley Castle is located near the castle ruins from which the area takes its name. We are six miles from Birmingham City Centre and walking distance from Selly Oak train station.

With over 30 years’ experience working with the local property market, our solicitors know what makes Weoley Castle unique. Our law firm has established links with estate agents and other professionals in the area, and we know what searches to carry out and what details to look for when buying property.

In our Weoley Castle office, we also have an experienced family law team, who are available on a privately-paying basis. Specific areas of expertise include divorce, separation, pre-nuptial agreements, living together agreements, cohabitee disputes, financial separation, domestic violence injunctions and private & public law children disputes.

In addition, we have experts in civil litigation, including personal injury, employment law and disputes over probate and inheritance. We can offer financing arrangements on a 'no-win, no-fee' basis in some instances.

We are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, which ensures our highly experienced solicitors meet the high standards set by the SRA.
